For innovative projects in music theatre
Theater Magdeburg holds a competition for up-and-coming creative teams and looks for innovative artistic projects in the field of new music theatre. Artists and groups can submit project designs by the end of May 2024. An international jury will select the most exciting project, which will receive a production funding of EUR 10,000 and will be presented at the festival eXoplanet from May 9th – 11th 2025 in Magdeburg.
Participation is open to interdisciplinary artists and practitioners from all genres, individuals or groups, from Saxony-Anhalt or beyond, who develop performative or installative projects or interventions. We look for projects that tell stories and in which the narrative impulse comes from within the music. Any form of artistic expression is permitted, the more interdisciplinary the better. We are particularly interested in projects that focus artistically on urban space, its people and special features. The performance venue should be outside the theatre’s usual venues.
Theater Magdeburg is the city theatre of Saxony-Anhalt’s state capital with ensembles for music theatre, ballet, concert and drama. The theatre produces more than 30 premieres every year and employs around 450 people. Festival venues will be spread throughout the city.
Required Documents:
An informative dossier including a project description, brief biographical overview, financial planning and contact details in a PDF document of no more than three pages. Images are welcome, but not a must.
