Queen of Puddings Music Theatre will present the world premiere of Svadba – Wedding, an opera written by Ana Sokolovic. The opera is inspired by Stravinsky’s Les Noces. Sokolovic draws on her rich Balkan heritage of folk music and literature to tell the story of girlfriends preparing a bride-to-be the night before her wedding. Svadba – Wedding is an opera for six female voices, a capella and sung in Serbian, with English surtitles. The opera will star Laura Albino, Carla Huhtanen, Andrea Ludwig, Shannon Mercer, Krisztina Szabó and Jacqueline Woodley and opens at the Canadian Stage, Berkeley Street Theatre on June 24th, 2011.
