COC Partners with AtG in Pilot Residency Program

The Canadian Opera Company (COC) expands its training program for young opera professionals this fall with the introduction of a residency program for emerging opera companies. As a pilot project, the COC will act as an incubator for the indie opera collective Against the Grain Theatre (AtG) during a two-year residency at the COC’s administrative offices at 227 Front St. E. in Toronto. AtG’s residency at the COC begins with the 2016/2017 season and runs through the 2017/2018 season to August 15, 2018.

 

Vancouver Opera Announces Inaugural Opera Festival

Vancouver Opera (VO) is thrilled to announce their inaugural Vancouver Opera Festival, April 28 to May 13, 2017. The festival will feature three full-scale productions; Verdi's Otello, Heggie's Dead Man Walking, and Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. In addition to the core opera productions, the 16-day Vancouver Opera Festival will offer a new VO-commissioned visual art installation, performances by superb vocal artists, new collaborations with other Vancouver arts organizations, a massive choral extravaganza, and engaging, immersive experiences for people of all ages.

IRCPA Announces 10 Young Singers Selected to Perform in Singing Stars Of Tomorrow Concert on October 22

Congratulations to the ten singers selected to take part in Singing Stars of Tomorrow. The concert features sopranos Valerie Belanger, Stephanie De Ciantis, Natalya Gennadi, Beth Hagerman, Jessica Scarlato, Sara Schabas, & Caitlin Wood; mezzo-sopranos Danielle MacMillan & Marjorie Maltais; and tenor Asitha Tennekoon performing operatic arias, with Rachel Andrist at the piano. 
The concert takes place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 (7:30pm) at the Alliance Française, 24 Spadina Road.  Tickets are $25, available online from www.ircpa.net or by calling 416-362-1422.
