This is Your Brain on Opera...

Opéra de Montréal and Tech3Lab are embarking on a study of audience experiences of opera. Specifically, what, if any, appreciable differences are there in the opera goer’s reactions between a live performance, and a recorded performance. The test groups will watch a performance of Bizet’s Carmen, one group watching a performance by Opéra de Montréal at Place des Arts this May, and the second group will watch it on a movie screen. Each group of volunteers will be set up with devices that will monitor brain activity and will be filmed during the experiment. We look forward to learning the study’s results in Spring of 2020.
