AOC held its Annual Meeting of Members by zoom on November 25. Highlights included the presentation of the financial statements for the year ending June 30, 2025, showing a $33,303 surplus—the association’s ninth consecutive year of breakeven or modest surpluses.

Members also elected four new directors to the board: Michael Blais, Executive Director, Manitoba Opera; Ashley Daniel Foot, Director of Engagement and Civic Practice, Vancouver Opera; Rachel Krehm, General Director, Opera 5; and Miriam Khalil, Faculty of Music, University of Alberta, with Ereca Hassell, Chief Operating Officer, Pacific Opera Victoria, stepping into the role of Secretary Treasurer. Co-Chairs Robin Whiffen, Executive Director, Edmonton Opera and Bruce Munro Wright, Member at large Vancouver, continue their co-leadership of the board.

The Association and its members extend heartfelt gratitude to outgoing board members Ian Rye, CEO, Pacific Opera Victoria and Patrick Hansen, Artistic Director, Opera McGill/Tri-Cities Opera, who conclude 10 years of dedicated service to AOC and to the Canadian opera sector.
