The Association for Opera in Canada’s Opera Artist Emergency Relief Fund provides funds to professional opera artists experiencing immediate cash shortages for basic necessities as a result of lost work opportunities due to the spread of the omicron variant and corresponding public health restrictions across the country.  We aim to respond swiftly and to help as many professional opera artists who are in dire need as we can based on available funds.

The government has recently opened the Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit (CWLB) providing up to $300 a week to those who qualify.  If you are an established professional Canadian artist (or permanent resident) and are experiencing immediate needs for basic necessities, we encourage you to apply to this program. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/benefits/worker-lockdown-benefit.html
