AOC member Alan Corbishley named Interim Artistic Director of City Opera Vancouver

The Association for Opera in Canada is pleased to congratulate Alan Corbishley, Executive and Artistic Director of Professional Company Member organization Sound the Alarm: Music/Theatre, who has been named Interim Artistic Director of City Opera Vancouver.

At Sound the Alarm: Music/Theatre, Alan has been instrumental in the creation of over 200 events and productions, including a national tour of “Music of the Night: The Concert Tour”. His creative and innovative approach to opera has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including the title of “Best Opera in Vancouver 2017” for his production of Handel’s Acis & Galatea.

Since 2016, Alan has worked closely with City Opera, directing acclaimed productions such as Mozart’s “The Lost Operas,” Handel’s “Acis & Galatea” and “Nigredo Hotel.” In 2020, Alan also directed and co-created City Opera’s production of “Berlin: The Last Cabaret”, which had a successful premiere at the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.
