Now Accepting Submissions: COR Canadian Opera Resource

Dear Opera Creators,

We are thrilled to announce that the Canadian Opera Resource (COR) smart online database is online and open to opera creators!  COR is a game-changing tool to connect audiences, artists, and producers with opera creators and their works, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and Tapestry Opera. As of March 2023, we are extending the invitation to all Canadian composers and librettists to promote their works through COR, free-of-charge with a public launch scheduled for April 2023.The Canadian Opera Resource is a wiki-enabled, user-driven, media-savvy, encyclopediapromotional tool, and one-stop-shop for all Canadian opera.  It is designed to highlight and make easily accessible the incredible work of Canadian composers, librettists, and commissioners of new works. COR is designed for a primary audience of opera artists, music students, and producers of new works. With its dynamic search tool, it will become the easiest way for performers and companies anywhere in the world to find great Canadian repertoire to perform.

Connecting artists and producers to great works and creators

COR allows creators and companies to add works to the database, provide bios and links to websites, with an option to submit piano-vocal scores of full works, scenes, and/or arias for purchase for limited use. There is also the option to provide information and/or contacts for direct inquiries about performing or producing works. As a wiki-tool, profiles and new work submissions can be updated and edited on COR at any time. The instructions linked HERE are a guide to the process of creating a Creator account, submitting works, and entering the information required. **For non-Canadian artists, any works submitted must have a Canadian as either librettist or composer to qualify for inclusion here.Creators can email COR’s Project Manager Camille Rogers at crogers@tapestryopera.com if they have any questions about COR or the submission process.
